Our Salon participates in Matter of Trust, a collaborative program of thousands of Salons through the United States and abroad. Since1998 these salons have donated hair clippings to soak up oil spills that would otherwise collect on aquatic fur. Last year over 2,600 oil spills occurred in the world. They weren't all are high profile, but most had an impact on the environment. Matter of Trust has found other uses for your hair clippings, too. Mats made from hair are a great source of protein for soils, preventing water evaporation by 50% and reducing the need for chemical herbicides and fertilizers.

We are also a Locks of Love Salon and provide free haircuts to those who donate their hair to locks of love. Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. While wearing a hairpiece is certainly not a cure for these children, it can help restore some of the normalcy to their everyday lives that most of us take for granted.
